Job Description
This position requires an individual who has employee and labor relations experience, deep subject matter knowledge, and strong communication and interpersonal skills that enables the individual to work successfully and independently on a broad spectrum of employee and labor relations issues and projects. This position leads ER projects that are business critical, and may be global in nature and may lead other program managers for large projects. This position requires the delivery of complex medium to large scale projects from initiation through delivery. This position will monitor the project post-implementation, ensure continued success post-implementation, and recommend improvements to the project after it is deployed across the company.
The ERPM applies advanced knowledge of core technology and/or functional areas to coordinate program design and launch within schedule and budget constraints. The position makes optimal tradeoffs between schedule, resources, and scope, and applies advanced technical and business knowledge to address major risks, challenges, and obstacles. The position anticipates, identifies and drives resolution of technical challenges and interdependencies to prevent downstream problems.
It relies heavily on influence – not authority – to drive engineering and business teams and resources toward project goals.
The ERPM has broad experience, across functional and technical areas, designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining large scale change management initiatives and can credibly lead large cross-functional teams to complete projects. The ERPM can skillfully recruit, motivate and focus people of all levels to deliver complex projects and is an expert at matching team skills to assignments.
The individual, for example, will work proactively to:
o Independently own large scale, network-wide projects that improve the associate experience across all Amazon locations
o Influence Senior Leaders when necessary to ensure a positive associate experience
o Partner with senior managers and HR teams to create and sustain positive employee relations programs and best practices
o Design and conduct multiple positive labor relations trainings and communications
o Design, collect, and analyze multiple levels of employee feedback
o Conduct and oversee employee relations and vulnerability assessment programs
o Partner to engage in continuous improvement in communication vehicles and practices
o Analyze, diagnose, design, and revise people programs, policies, and practices to sustain positive employee relations
The individual also will work reactively on critical employee relations issues that are crisis-oriented and typically can only be successfully completed with limited time. Balancing time between projects and crisis-response is a critical component for success in the position. The individual will provide support to the owners of the end-to-end response efforts necessary to reactively solve critical employee relations issues for sites and/or nodes; with particular focus on high risk locations. The position reports to an Employee Relations Principal within the Operations Human Resources group at Amazon.com. This is a full-time position that will require significant travel, up to 50% of the time over the course of the year.
