In order to find the relationship between job stress and the other variables measured, linear and non-linear regression measure were utilized. The authors found that job stress did not predict changes in the other measures based on linear regression but the non-linear regression model indicated that job stress is a better predictor of organization commitment (R2 = 0.08, F = 6.45, p < 0.01) and job performance (R2 = 0.05, F = 4.05, p < 0.05). Both non-linear regression models were U-shaped indicating that both low and high levels of stress led to lower levels of organizational commitment and poorer job performance. Moderate levels of stress but respond poorly to both high and low levels of stress.
