Resin and wax were supplied to the
particles in a rotary drum equipped with spray nozzles.
Approximately 8 kg particles were charged per batch.
Forming of mats was performed in a forming machine
with reciprocating plates. Then the boards were hotpressed
at a peak pressure of 3.5MPa and temperatures
of 180 1C for MUPF resin and 150 1C for UF resin. Total
pressing time was 10 s/mm. The manufactured boards were
pre-conditioned at 25 1C and 65% RH for two weeks
before testing. Number of boards of each trial was 6 pieces.
Specimens from the six-panel board sets were combined for
testing so that all results represented an average over the
six panels.
