A modified vapor-compression refrigeration cycle system (MVRC) operating with
the zeotropic mixture R290/R600a is proposed for domestic refrigerator-freezers. In
contrast to the traditional vapor-compression refrigeration cycle (TVRC), a phase
separator is added, and the previous condenser in TVRC is divided into two condensers
and a subcooler. In order to evaluate the thermodynamic performances of the MVRC, a
mathematical model based on the first law of thermodynamics and the second law of
