Before discussing the findings of the study per se. it is worth noting that despite the rigorous initial development of the instrument, it was clear that it had many flaws. As was evident in the reduction of the 25 items down to 20, and then finally down to 18 items. Some of the initial issues we were trying to overcome such as appropriate language were still problematic. Hence the deletion of items such as math is mysterious’. This highlights the inadequacy of employing ad hoc instruments or scales that have not undergone rigorous statistical analysis.
