3.7. Adsorption capacity of the resin
The adsorption capacity of the chelating resin for some analyte ions (Cd(II), Co(II) and Cu(II)) was studied using batch technique. A known amount of the chelating resin (0.1 g) was equilibrated with a known and excess amount of the metal ion solution (10 mg in 50 mL) by shaking for 30 min at pH 8. The mixture was then filtered off and the filtrate was diluted 20–100 fold. Concentrations of the metal ions in the filtrate were determined by FAAS. Adsorption capaties (mg g−1, n = 3) were found to be: 22.8 ± 1.0 for Cd(II), 48.5 ± 2.1 for Co(II), and 24.4 ± 0.5 for Cu(II).
