The teaching of process skills should be deliberate and yet integrated with the learning of concepts and skills.
Students should be exposed to problem solving approaches such as the Polya’s model and the steps in a modelling process in class.
Teachers could “think aloud” to give attention to these processes and make them visible to students.
Students should be given opportunities to work in groups and use ICT tools for modelling tasks.
ICT tools empower students to work on problems which would otherwise require more advanced mathematics or computations that are too tedious and repetitive.
Through practice, students will develop habits and strategies that will help them be better and more independent learners.
