For the RGW and especially the STB, production was the main
reason. Distribution (and storage) was also a key aspect, especially
in the IPTV case where it gave rise to the same impact as the TV, but
also in the P2P case when high uplink bandwidth were assumed.
The potential climate change impact related to distribution was
dependent on movie size, as the impact was allocated based on the
amount of data transmitted and was thus constant under different
uplink bandwidth. For the P2P system the downloading and
uploading time influenced the results considerably and was in turn
determined by downlink/uplink bandwidth and movie size. A
movie of smaller size (in GB) would lead to faster down- and
uploading, but increasing the data transfer speed for a particular
movie would mean lower quality.
