(Figure 1) make it difficult to compare the calculated
RGR date per date.
Biomass partitioning
Results about biomass partitioning were very similar
between years so that only data from 1996 were
presented. In P0, both leaf (Wleaf) and stem (Wstem)
biomass were lower throughout almost the entire crop
cycle. The relative values (Wleaf P0 / Wleaf P1.5 and
Wstem P0 / Wstem P1.5) decreased up to 0.4 between
400 and 600 C days (i.e. from the 8.5-visible leaf
stage to the 15-visible leaf stage in the P1.5 treatment)
(Figure 2). After this period, the relative differences
between P0 and P1.5 treatments became less important.
The relative reduction was very similar for the
leaf and the stem compartment, although the stem biomass
(Wstem) was affected for a longer period. The
