This category is inclusive of hired tricycles, personal cars, and
personal motorcycles. It can also be concluded that people are willing to use ‘‘other’’ access modes
than using a taxi to access Nonthaburi pier.
For calculating the VOT, the users of all access modes were considered to have the same value of
time. Therefore, no separate VOT was calculated for different access modes.
In this study, the value of time was calculated with respect to in vehicle travel time (IVTT) and also
OVTT. The value of time was calculated by using the estimated coefficients of cost and time
components of the optimal model. For instance, to calculate VOT with respect to IVTT, the coefficient
of IVTT was divided by the cost coefficient to obtain the VOT in baht per minute. The VOT in baht per
hour was then calculated. OVTT was further divided into walk time and waiting time. Results are
shown in Table IX. To calculate value of time of OVTT, the value of times for walk time and wait time
were estimated. Table X presents the value of time (VOT) obtained from previous studies. It is observed
that the estimated VOT of this study is similar to those from previous studies.
