Immunizationwith SRBC statistically increased the concentration of total IgMand IgA in female rats, whereas no statistical differences werefound in male rats. The statistically significant decrease in totalIgM concentration found in the female group fed rice spiked with0.02% PHA-E lectin and not immunized with SRBC comparedto the control group was presumably caused by lack of immunization rather than by PHA-E lectin since the correspondinggroup immunized with SRBC had a higher concentration of totalIgM than the control group. Immunization with SRBC had nostatistically significant effect on mitogen-induced lymphocyteproliferation (Table 2) or on spleen pathology (data not shown).
