Key Card: XIII Death
Love: Five of Wands
Career: Two of Pentacles
With Death as the Key card it could be that you’re heading into the start of this year with thoughts of off with the old and on with the new, so is it time to start ringing in those changes?
Personal Relationships: Whilst major change and transformation may be sitting on the horizon it doesn’t appear to be the easiest landscape for settling them into place, as the Five of Wands indicates you may meet with a few challenges en route. As the card of petty obstacles then nothing is insurmountable but you could feel the force of opposing forces, which can be a bit tiring, particularly if you need the cooperation of others to bring about said changes.
The atmosphere for miscommunication or misunderstanding could be fairly ripe, also falling neatly in with the current Mercury Retrograde period, and it may feel as though everyone has a different point of view leading to a sense of competition or conflicting desires. Try not to become embroiled or take things too personally, as a clear head and flexible game plan would be the best course of action.
For some it may be that you’re dealing with the resulting effects that change brings. The Death card may bring closure to something but the Five of Wands suggests it’s not quite as neat as closing one door and opening another before dealing with various consequences or viewpoints. When dealing with family and those closest to you, do try to take everyone’s thoughts and concerns into consideration to help find perspective and common ground, in order to help move things forward. Remember, the Five of Wands represents petty obstacles and not insurmountable odds :)
Career & Business: Meanwhile, the area connected to work and business suggests an easier passage but this could be due to your adaptability. Whatever lands this week, you appear to be taking things in your stride and confidently juggling your tasks and responsibilities to maintain balance.
If you’re in business then you may be jiggling finances to balance the books, or finding additional ways to exchange goods and services. You could be considering adding another string to your bow as you adapt to a changing market place or perhaps to enhance your finances.
These are good cards if you’ve been considering a secondary income, or setting up a separate project alongside your usual ‘day job.’ The Two of Pentacles often indicates keeping more than one thing in play, so more than one career or source of income can be suggested. For those in the workplace, changes may necessitate covering more than one job, even if only on a temporary basis. Should this be the case, try to see it as an opportunity for you to demonstrate your ability, as it could help to expand your horizons in the future.
Overall, whilst this may seem to be a slightly more demanding week than usual it tends to highlight the importance of flexibility and, as the quote from Epictetus reflects, “It’s not what happens to you but how you react to it,” that really holds the key. So whether you’re implementing change, or responding to it, the ability to achieve balance rests in your hands.
As always I must remind you that the Tarot are a wonderful guide but they are not your master, only you can decide what is right for you, no one else has the responsibility for your actions or choices.
