I have had a conversation with Mr Andy regarding the situation in Klang and he has offered the following information.
An investigation has commenced with immediate effect at Klang Factory by Mr Paisan Chief Financial Officer of CPF and a team from Group Personnel into the comments made from the two auditors .
This will concentrate on the issues from the audit itself and the comments from these two auditors by way of a separate communication to Tesco UK. Contact is already underway with Tesco Bangkok with the relevant people to fully understand the concerns expressed and correct misunderstandings to ensure a clear interpretation of the information requested and presented.
Within CPF we believed that brokers , contractors and agents were completely eliminated from the Klang site in 2014 and throughout all group factories by early 2015. Mr Andy has promised to send details of this work and time frames within tomorrow and I will forward immediately.
That there is no debt or debt bondage of any kind retained by third parties such as brokers with any employee within the CPF Group Factories in Thailand. This has been mandated by our Chairman Dhanin and Mr Adirek CEO of CPF since last year and implemented on a step wise basis throughout CPF with CP paying to release employees from this situation if required.
Additionally Klang factory has recently passed an ethical audit by a third party on an NDA with no issues of the type highlighted.
May I state unequivocally that the management of CPF are shocked by the comments made in the summary and will carry out this complete review to determine any wrongdoing from the stated policy of our Chairman Dhanin and CEO Mr Adirek.
We will not under any circumstances employ labour either foreign or domestic that has a financial contract with a third party relating to their employment with CP.
Will update further tomorrow,
