Manufacturers are trying to increase make-to-order processes required by e-business responsiveness. To do so, they must investigate and improve integrated performance across broad systems of applications and processes. It's a difficult task unless the system and changes can be modeled and tested before implementation, so as not to disrupt existing operations, such as new product introduction, supply chain, or manufacturing process-change. Simulation software products are ideal tools for predictive analysis applications. One such tool is Arena, an industrial engineering discrete event simulation tool acquired by Rockwell Automation. Arena is different and less complex than the analytical simulation approaches that i2 Technologies follows.
