During 2009 the restaurants of Disney's Newport Bay Club ran a first phase of tests on ferment miscible waste, e.g. organic waste from the preparation of meals. The results were positive so the test was extended to various restaurants in the resort, as well as to many cafeterias in the backstage area. Consequently, in 2012, 650 tons of ferment miscible waste were collected and treated by bio-methanation, thus avoiding incineration. This initiative is being rolled out to all our restaurants.
