Tactic 4 - Intimidation
The word intimidation, when used here, has a broad meaning covering several copywriting concepts. Have you ever heard the saying "The hardest deal to make is the one you desperately need"? The easiest deals to close are the ones where you feel that you don't need them, and don't care if they sign up or not. This is a more aggressive form of copy and can take several forms:
Limited number available technique - "If you try to sign up after this deal closes, you will not be able to purchase and your order will be refused".
Most will buy - This relies on the idea that a trend has developed and everyone from your neighbor to your 105 year old Grandma is jumping on the bandwagon. It's also understood that anyone who passes this up will miss out. This technique is often combined with social proof - testimonials, quotes, FB likes, etc.
Appeal to ego - "What excuse will you make when your friends ask why you can't do the latest yo yo trick?"
These tactics are often used aggressively on 'guru' sales pages, but can be used in virtually any niche. Remember, these tactics should be played with sod on't take the examples literally. Use them as a starting point to craft your own copy and tactics. Mix them, match them, put more emphasis on one this vs. the other. There is no right or wrong here, but you won't get optimal results copying something you see here or on someone's sales page. I would guess most affiliates who 'write' copy just grab phrases here and there and slap them together. The most amount of time is spent on the design, pictures, and buttons with the copy being almost an afterthought. Put some time and effort into your copy and you'll be ahead of 99% of affiliates.
