While open innovation has had a strong reception since its initial launch almost a decade ago, there is certainly more work to be done. Open innovation was first understood and implemented as a series of collaborations between two organizations to open up the internal innovation process. And that is where we’re going. Open innovation’s effectiveness is not restricted to a few select corporations. It is a process that makes more effective use of internal and external knowledge in every organization. While we have much to learn about its problems, boundary conditions, and critical success factors, open innovation is going to be a part of the future for all of us
