In conclusion, the antibacterial activity of the crude extract
and CF and EF fractions of F. pseudopalma leaves against
Gram-positive bacteria tested may be attributed to the
presence of flavonoids and terpenoids. The most susceptible
Gram-positive organism was B. subtilis. This study may
pave way for the potential use of F. pseudopalma as a new
source of effective and affordable antibacterial compounds.
Further studies on the phytochemical elucidation and
characterization of bioactive compounds of this plant are
recommended.
