Celebratory Food
It’s that time of the year again and just as preparations are being formulated for Thanksgiving in the US and then Christmas and Hanukkah globally…..we realize that there are still big gaps in our Holiday content that our customers want to get their hands on.
Please think about getting your camera out when the big day arrives, there is a need for:
•Celebratory meal laid out on dining room table (with no people). Natural light where possible/ candle light if evening time. As much context as you can get into the shot, to show tree, lights, decorations, etc.
•Someone laying the table for dinner – putting out napkins, cutlery, plates etc
•Someone lighting candles on the table before everyone sits down for dinner
•Your Thanksgiving/Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years Day meal with family and friends
Capture intimate moments, people talking and laughing naturally, someone standing up and speaking, sharing food around, filling each others glasses, sharing crackers, etc. (With and without alcohol so there is a choice of image to choose from.) •Family and friends relaxing after the big meal
•Washing up/clearing up after the big meal
•Think about your nostalgic view of the Holidays and try to visualize that!
Please use natural light where you can and use candlelight and Christmas lights to add atmosphere to your images. Use the windows when you can.
WE NEED WINTER CHRISTMAS AND SUMMER CHRISTMAS. SO, SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE CONTRIBUTORS – WE NEED YOUR IMAGES TOO!!!
Shoot the images as if you were one of the people sitting at the table or shoot low across the table.
Use shallow depth of field to add softness to the images and make it feel more atmospheric
Shoot in late afternoon/early evening – i.e. at the times you would eat the dinner.
Allow the people eating to enjoy themselves and capture those moments. Do not spend time posing everyone, it will just look unnatural.
Deadline - April 30th, 2015.
Please tag your images with CelebrateFood2014 so our editors can review all the great stuff as it comes in.
**Brief Keywords
Many of the briefs we send in these Fuel emails contain a special keyword at the top. We include these so that we can keep track of how contributors are responding to these emails. Include these keywords on any new file you create after recieving the brief. Do not add them to existing files in your portfolio, old images you haven't got around to uploading, or images they don't fit. We will remove them from inappropriate files.
iStock Fuel is a regular email to all iStockphoto contributors containing creative briefs on needed subject matter. Follow the links for detailed briefs on our new content needs.
