Dear friends
Almost all of us will have a special urban story to tell, so to mark the launch of the Human Cities initiative, our new company positioning, we’ve launched a global competition inviting employees to tell their urban stories – in a selfie.
The AkzoNobel Human Cities initiative is all about making city life more energizing, inspiring and vibrant, so employees across the world are being challenged to take a shot which shows what they love about their city or urban space. The winner – to be chosen after the June 30 closing date – will be able to nominate the place in their city that’s special to them for some AkzoNobel-led regeneration.
“Mass urban development across the world means that many of our urban areas are slowly losing their identity and we therefore believe there’s a real need to start generating and regenerating more ‘human’ urban environments,” explained AkzoNobel’s Head of Public Affairs, Michael Lightfoot. “We hope that by engaging people through this competition we can inspire them to connect with their cities on an emotional level and help to promote a sense of place, space and purpose in urban areas across the world.”
AkzoNobel launches its Human Cities initiative at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition of la Biennale di Venezia. During the event, AkzoNobel CEO Ton Buchner also announced a partnership with renowned architect Rem Koolhaas and leading architecture firm OMA to conduct global research into the link between color and economic development.
To enter, all you need to do is upload your selfie – together with a few words explaining the story behind the shot – to the special Yammer group or send them to humancities@akzonobel.com.
