Constructed 90 percent of lightweight fibre glass (similar to the body of Chevrolet’s Corvette), theDiscojet incorporates a unique stability and control system. Eight identical self-con-tainedthrust modules power the which is made of a two-piece, inexpensive monocoque airframe.
The engines used in the thrust modules are Wankel snowmobile engines, a model that has been certified for aircraft use by the German government. The combination of a moderately expensive computerized computerizedcontrol and stabilization system, low-cost engines, and very inexpensive airframe results in an aircraft priced competitively with light aircraft sold on the market. Current cost projections indicate a retail price under $25 000 when production reaches 5000 units.
