3.1.1. Chicken meat consumption
Fifty-nine (62.8%) participants reported eating chicken in the week
before onset of their illness, and of these 59 participants, 48 (51.1%)
and 42 (44.7%) reported eating chicken in thefive and three days
respectively before onset of their illness. A total of 39 (66.1% of the 59
that reported eating chicken) study participants reported eating
chicken that was prepared and eaten in the home, 40 (67.8%)
participants reported eating chicken that was prepared or eaten away
from home, and 23 (39%) participants reported eating chicken
prepared both at home and away from home.
