Relating bus travel time to private vehicle travel time becomes more meaningful if we consider the unique characteristics of transit buses. For example, the bus exhibits certain characteristics such as frequent stops at bus stops and deceleration and acceleration when approaching and departing from bus stops besides vehicular characteristics. In the present study, this has been taken into account by considering a non-stop trajectory (dwell time removed travel time) of the bus. Since all modes of vehicles are sharing the same roadway without any exclusive bus lanes, the only characteristic that differentiates the bus probes from the remaining vehicles is the dwell time at bus stops. Hence, the dwell time removed section travel time of the bus probes was considered and that will be the input for the estimation scheme explained in the next section
