Vertical profiles taken in February show a distinct thermocline between ~15-25
m, and a second, more gradual temperature decrease at ~45-60 m, followed by
isothermal conditions at greater depths (Fig. 3a). In September, surface temperatures
were colder, with a less pronounced thermocline between 50-60m with only ~1oC temp
difference between the top and the bottom of the lake compared to a 5oC difference in
February. Slightly higher surface temperatures were recorded in the mid-day samples in
both February and September. Temperatures ranged from 22.5-27oC at the surface, and
remained constant at 21.8oC at the bottom of the lake (Fig. 3a).
