A total of 265 routine samples of meat and meat products were tested for Salmonella in parallel using the RapidChek Select immunoassay
method and the ISO reference culture-based method (ISO, 2002).

Samples consisting of raw beef meat (77), minced beef meat (57), raw
poultry meat (46), meatball (19) and sausage (66) were collected
from different retail outlets in the Konya region of Turkey, over a 13-
month period, and were immediately transported to the laboratory in
insulated cooler boxes. Samples were stored at 4 °C until analysis.
