2. Materials and methods
2.1. Wines
Twenty-four samples of Chardonnay wine were used in this
study. Chardonnay wines have been chosen because this is the
main white strain used in Burgundy and due to its international
character. These bottles represented different wine styles that are
available in a supermarket of Dijon area. The bottles selected were
from the middle range segment of the market (price comprised between
4€ and 12€) because this is the price range that consumers
are more used to buying. Six main choice factors accessible to consumers
when purchasing wine were considered. The factors, which
were chosen on the basis of both previous research and in consultation
with a group of Burgundy wine experts, aimed at capturing a
broad range of purchase influences, are the following:
