His life was very happy the first 17 years. The first sad thing happened when his mother became very ill and died. The family was very sad. Elizabeth was brave and helped them so much; her sweet smile gave some happiness in the unhappy days after his mother's death.
Frankenstein had to go to university even he didn’t want to leave his sad family. He has to go alone. He met his teacher name Professor Waldman, who was one of the greatest scientists in the world. He gave a wonderful talk and ended his talk by saying: 'Some of you will become the great scientists of tomorrow. You must study hard and discover everything you can’. Frankenstein thought carefully his teacher’s words. He remembered the storm, and how the lightning had destroyed the tree. He wanted to use electricity to help people, and wanted to discover the secrets of life. He decided to work on these two things. He did not know that his work would destroy himself and the people he loved.
He started work very hard. Professor Waldman and his scientist friends helped him very much. He had discovered many things and built a scientific machine that was better than anything in the university. His machine would help to answer the most important question of all. How does life begin? Is it possible to put life into dead things? One day, he was sure that he knew the secret of life. He knew to put life into a body that was not alive. The professors gave him own laboratory, which a small flat above. He built a very tall mast about 150 meters high above the lab. It was higher than the tallest building in the city. The mast could catch lightning and could send the electricity down to his machine in the lab. He believed he could use that electricity to give life to things that were dead.
