Social Exchange Theory
Individuals continually assess whether a relationship is giving them more or at least as much as they are putting into it
Cost to reward comparison
Relevant to economics, know if there is a fair exchange
If rewards of the relationship is equal to or more than the cost, the person will feel it’s worth it
Emotions are exchanged
Costs: Poor Communications, sacrificing interest to please the other
Rewards: Companionship, sharing common interest, or being understood
