Various systems of advanced oxidation were
employed for the decomposition of organic dyes, including ozone
(O3) at pH > 8.5; O3 and hydrogen peroxide (O3 + H2O2); O3 and
catalyst; Fenton system (H2O2 + Fe2+); O3 and UV; H2O2 and UV;
O3, H2O2 and UV; photo-Fenton system; and photocatalytic oxidation
(TiO2 + UV) [2]. These methods are mostly based on the formation
of HO⁄ radical and its destructive behavior on organic matter.
