Importance of Education and Training Institutes

Education is not just learning by listening or seeing, it also includes learning by doing. However, the current education system does not give due importance to proper and practical training of students. Consequently, there is a mismatch between the skilled manpower required and what is available. Every year, various colleges churn out millions of graduates who lack specific skill sets required by the market. This has resulted in a conundrum where scores of graduates are unemployed and on the other hand there is a huge shortage of skilled workers such as plumbers, electricians, etc.
To rectify this situation it is important to promote education and training institutes. This may include secretarial practices, computer operators, tailoring and dress making, hair and skin care, fruit and vegetable preservation programs, etc.
In fact, education is useless if it does not make people fit to earn a livelihood. While educational institutes have increased by leaps since Independence in 1947, many students of these institutes are found to be incapable of earning a livelihood. This is the result of haphazard planning on the part of the educationalists. Educational institutions have failed to lay any stress on the quality of the education that they impart, or the subjects they teach.
It is important to have more such institutes that emphasize more on knowledge and skill sets rather than marks and a piece of paper called CV. The quality standards need to be maintained and regulated to ensure that the students get the best from the experts and in return give back best to the market and economy. There are only a few institutes that focus on developing and training but it is also a dismal state as they have no quality professionals to do the same.
Today, the economies across world are changing into knowledge based economies. This changing face of the world requires an individual to be specialized in a particular skill. Only a person who is an expert in a particular field can get a good job. Vocational education training institutes impart specialized and practical knowledge and help them become independent at a particular age.
Education and training should be flexible so that even working people can join the course, and even select the timings as per their convenience and nature of job. These training institutes should also have an online study option. Moreover, financial aid should also be provided to students who are economically weak. The faculty of these professional training institutes should be highly experienced and be able to impart practical knowledge to their students. As a result the students should be able to have a real life and practical industry experience.
