The metered-taxi driver had no idea where it was. After almost 40 minutes of circling around and stopping 3 or 4 times to make inquiries, the driver dropped us off at a small place at a street corner next to 7-eleven when we saw . To our horror we discovered that that is not the hotel we booked. Suffering from language barrier we finally understood that "A CENTER MANSION" is another hotel. How to get there? After a duck-chicken conversation and great frustration, a kind soul managed to intervene, got directions for us and led us there. We had to follow him on foot with our heavy luggage, weaving through Hatyai traffic. Turning off the main road into a small single-car lane, we arrived at "A-Center Mansion". There was a little sign proclaiming the hotel which cannot be seen from the main road. Why choose a name that is so similar to another hotel? We were glad to be given a fairly big room right behind the reception counter. There was an air-con, a fridge and en-suite bathroom. The toilet-bowl and shower area were raised on a platform about a foot higher than the floor. I wonder whose crazy idea it was. It was definitely dangerous to get back to floor level with wet feet after a shower. There was no railing to hold onto either. After a couple of hours we began to ask each other to confirm if that was the smell of sewage coming from the bathroom. It was. We decided to check out at 8.00 am the next morning. The owner arrived just as we were leaving. She was very pleasant and apologetic and even reimbursed us. However it was a bad experience all said and done.
