Each branch does an inventory check on a weekly basis and places an order by phone/fax to
suppliers whose list is compiled by Thailand OSA head-office. However, the orders are sent
directly to the suppliers from each outlet to save the logistics time. There are discounts given
by the suppliers depending on the volume in each order. The new country head posted to
Thailand in 2014 has discovered that there are branches that sell certain product fast and reorders
immediately whereas the same product is overstocked and selling slow in other
branches. This leads to expiring products that must be sold at a loss before they expire.
Although, Thailand leads in volume of consumables sold, discounts received from suppliers
is lowest in Thailand compared to other countries in the region.
