Youngjae's fingers tightened around his steering wheel, his focus completely on the road ahead. His car was flying down the road, weaving in and out of traffic as he tried to get to the address he'd been given in time. He knew he was going to get there in time, the place wasn't more than fifteen minutes away from his own place. Still, he pushed the pedal as hard as he possibly could, ignoring the horns being blown at him. He had to make sure Junhong was okay. He turned off onto a dirt road, winding round and round until a recently abandoned factory came into view.
Youngjae slammed into a parking space, his breath catching when he spotted Yongguk leaning against the wall, watching him closely. “Where is he?” The younger man demanded as he got out of his car, slamming the door shut. “Where is Junhong?!”
“Aw, I feel like you're not excited to see me.” Yongguk said, frowning when Youngjae grabbed his dress shirt, his hands tightening around it.
“Where is he?!” Youngjae hissed into the older man's face.
Yongguk stared blankly back at him before laughing and roughly pushing him away. “Follow me.” He said, pulling open the door. “Wait-” He spun around, looking Youngjae dead on in the eyes. “Are the police on their way?”
“No.” The younger man answered without any hesitation. “Just tell me where my brother is.”
“Hasn't anyone ever told you to say 'please'?”
Youngjae quickly reached into his blazer, aiming his pistol at the older man. “Show me where my brother is.” He said through gritted teeth.
Yongguk raised his eyebrows, staring at the pistol before laughing loudly and Youngjae just wanted to punch him in the face. “Go ahead.” He laughed. “Do it.” His tone of voice was suddenly serious. “Go ahead and do it, Youngjae.” Youngjae swallowed thickly, his finger hovering over the trigger. But, he couldn't.
He just couldn't do it. Even with as angry as he was, he couldn't do it.
He couldn't kill Bang Yongguk.
The man shook his head before sighing loudly. “Put that gun away and follow me.”
Youngjae followed Yongguk inside the building, his hands shaking when the man finally stopped at a room in the farthest part of the building. “Here we are.” The man muttered as he opened the door and motioned for Youngjae to step in.
“No.” Youngjae shook his head. He wasn't going into a completely dark room. At least until he heard his brother's trembling voice. He pushed past Yongguk, calling out Junhong's name. The door shut behind them and then the lights were . A soft gasp left his lips when he spotted Daehyun with a knife against his brother's throat. “Daehyun.” He breathed, his hands trembling. “Don't.”
“Let him go.” He pleaded, slowly moving closer. “Please let him go.”
“Are you angry?” Daehyun asked, his eyes going towards the teen.
“Daehyun.”
“How angry would you be if I killed him?” The drug lord causally spoke, almost as if it was nothing more than discussing what they would have for dinner.
“Let. Him. Go!” Youngjae shouted, aiming his pistol at the man.
Daehyun stared at it in interest before dropping the knife onto the floor. Junhong ran towards his brother, the teen's legs shaking so hard he almost fell. Youngjae quickly pulled him into his arms, holding Junhong tightly. “Listen to me.” He whispered. “I want you to run. I'll be fine.” He gently spoke before shifting slightly so he could get an envelope out of his blazer. “Take this and run, Junhong. Just run.”
And when Junhong looked at him in a mixture of fear and question, he repeated it. “Take this and run. Now.” The teen stared at him for a moment longer before hesitantly taking the envelope. Youngjae spun around, watching as his brother darted out of the room. He slowly looked towards Bang Yongguk before back at Daehyun. He took in a shaky breath before walking towards his ex-lover.
“Don't hurt my family anymore.” Youngjae breathed, his pistol pointed at Daehyun. “Don't hurt them anymore.” Daehyun didn't move, he didn't say anything as he moved closer and closer. ”No more, Daehyun, no more-”
The drug lord's eyes widened as Youngjae turned the gun and aimed it at himself, his finger pulling back the trigger. Daehyun ran forward, grabbing Youngjae's wrist and aiming it upwards, the bullet going through the ceiling. “What are you doing?!” Daehyun screamed, a panic he'd never heard in his lover's voice as he snatched the gun out of Youngjae's hand.
Youngjae dropped onto his knees, his head and shoulders slumped forward. “I know my life is yours to take but I can't handle this anymore. Please, please just ing end it. I can't do this anymore, I can't.”
Daehyun got down onto his own knees, grabbing the younger man by the chin and forcing him to look up. “I can't kill you.”
“Then why didn't you let me kill myself?” His voice was barely above a whisper, the agony in his eyes and voice so apparent that even Yongguk had to cringe.
“I wanted you to kill me.” Youngjae's expression twisted into a look of confusion, tears still rolling down his cheeks. The drug lord gently wiped them away with his thumb. “I wanted to make you so angry you killed me.”
“Well, I could have told you he wasn't going to shoot you.” Yongguk finally spoke up and when Daehyun narrowed his eyes, he shrugged, holding up his hands in defense. “I'll leave, but keep in mind that kid has probably gotten to a phone by now.” He finally said, turning around, and when neither Youngjae or Daehyun said anything, he left the room.
“Kill me, Youngjae.” Daehyun whispered, reaching for the gun and handing it to his ex-lover. “I want you to.”
“I can't.” Youngjae shook his head. “I can't do that.”
The door opened and then Yongguk poked his head in. “Look, I know you two are having a moment and all but the police are here and there's a bomb set to go off in about thirty minutes.”
“I won't kill you.”
“Then leave.” The older man softly spoke, his voice the most gentle Youngjae had ever heard it. “I've already made up my mind this is where it ends tonight. Leave.”
“No.” Youngjae shook his head.
Daehyun smiled, the smile so bittersweet before he looked back towards Yongguk. “You're welcome to stay or to leave, Yongguk.”
Yongguk frowned deeply, staring at the two men on the floor before sighing loudly and shaking his head. “This is so dramatic, you've always loved to put a show on, Boss.” His tone of voice was almost sad, Youngjae noticed. “I'll take my chance with prison, I suppose. . . blowing up isn't really my style.”
“See ya on the other side.” Yongguk said before leaving them alone in the room again.
The other side. Youngjae could feel himself trembling, he knew what he was doing but god, he was so scared. Daehyun wrapped his arms around him, kissing the top of his head. “I'll let you go. I won't hurt your family anymore.” The younger man shook his head, hiding his face in the crook of the drug lord's neck.
“No.” He whispered. “I don't want to live without you anymore. It hurts, Daehyun.” Youngjae slowly wrapped his over arms around Daehyun's body, breathing in his scent. They sat there, holding each other in silence for a moment until Youngjae finally pulled back, just enough to look him in the face. “I love you.” It felt like the weight of the world had suddenly dropped off his shoulders, the words feeling so ing right. Daehyun's expression softened and it was almost like a wall had been ripped down, right then and there with those words.
“Say it again.” Daehyun demanded.
“I love you.”
“Again.”
“I love you, Daehyun.” Youngjae reached out to gently touch the man's face. “I love you, I've always loved you.”
Daehyun closed his eyes, leaning into Youngjae's touch. “Do you know how long I've wanted to hear those words from you?” He reached up and covered his lover's hand with his own. “Do you know how pathetic I felt?”
“I'm sorry.” Youngjae's eyes watered, his tongue darting out to lick his chapped lips. Sorry didn't seem good enough. “I just wanted to do good, that was all I ever wanted. I didn't think I'd fall in love with you, I just. . . everything happened so quickly.” He bit down onto his lower lip to fight back a sob. “-I'm so sorry.”
“Me too.” The man smiled sadly.
“I love you.” Youngjae repeated the words, admiring how Daehyun's eyes would soften each and every time. “Do you believe me?”
“I do.” Daehyun replied, trailing off for a moment. “I thought you would kill me tonight. I thought I could make you angry enough you would kill me and move on with your life. Yongguk knew you wouldn't – maybe, I did too.” Daehyun softly chuckled. “I knew you would get out of here in time but I didn't want the police to have my body. Is that strange?” He didn't wait for a reply. “There's still time for you to leave.”
“No.” Youngjae shook his head again. “It hurts too much when I'm away from you.” When Daehyun reached up to cup his face, that's when the younger noticed his hands were shaking. “Are you scared?”
“Yes.” Daehyun answered after a moment. “I am.” Youngjae let out a soft gasp when he noticed how his lover's eyes were filling with tears until they finally started falling down his cheeks. He'd never seen Daehyun cry before – Daehyun didn't cry.
“Don't cry.” Youngjae wiped at his tears. “Don't cry, Daehyun.”
The older man smiled, turning his head and quickly wiping them away with the sleeve of his expensive blazer. He leaned in to place a soft kiss on the younger man's lips, Youngjae immediately parting them, wanting more, to just feel him, to tastehim. It was terrifying, everything was ing terrifying but this was so right. “Fate was cruel to us, Love.” Daehyun whispered against his lips.
Youngjae slowly nodded his head before pulling his lover close. “How much longer?”
Daehyun was silent for a moment before replying. “Fourteen minutes.”
“I'm so
