omg.. so cringe worthy... How about I give you some insight. There are good and bad people just as anywhere else. Some will mug you and will harm you, like any other place. There are scums. But others will help you as much as they can. To the extent they would go out of their way to look for lost goods for you? Doubt it. Trust me I know what I am talking about, anyone care to challenge what I am saying I welcome it. Police are for the most part corrupted, at least in the touristy destinations. NEVER expect to meet good people at tourist destinations. Locals will care for you and treat you like a guest, whereas Thai workers who work in the tourist destinations will take advantage of you, very rarely they will not. That's not to say they are heartless. They aren't. They have a degree of decency, even for scums like themselves. Thais are not confrontational for the most part (unless in the heat of the moment such as a road rage) but there are exceptions. Thais are more forgiving to foreigners more than they are to fellow thais on the basis that Thais should have known what they were doing and any fault done was likely to have a greater impact.
IF you want a good time, go to a local place, meet local hard working people. Don't go to red light districts.
The one thing I love about Thais are that they are proud of who they are, quite nationalistic in a sense. The one thing I HATE, is that that expression of nationalism often comes at the price of others. For example, the word Farang - is somewhat derogatory. It refers to all foreigners of caucasian descent, and it strips those people of their individuality. It is not nice. How would you feel if I referred to you as 'that Thai' or 'that asian'
