The height of 41%of the trees was measured using a
graduated pole for small trees and a clinometer and measuring tape for larger
trees. A regression equation was created for each
forest type to regress height onto dbh for the remaining
trees (OSF: height ¼ 7:88 þ 0:654 dbh, r2 ¼
82:5%, P < 0:001; PF: height ¼ 13:31 þ 0:545
dbh, r2 ¼ 74:1%, P < 0:001). The volume of each
tree was estimated as height basal area 0:5 and a
correction factor of 0.6 was applied to estimate aboveground
biomass
