This research is a study on methods of translation through an article “The Market City” translated by the senior student of advance translation course. The objectives are; 1) to analyze the translation strategies and translation procedures that the students in Advance Translation Course use, 2) to evaluate the translation in overview.
The finding shows that the most frequently used strategies for translating source text in English into target text in Thai are Literal Translation and Near literal translation, which found the percentage of Literal Translation in all text is higher than Near literal Translation. Regarding translation procedures, the finding reveals that the most frequently used procedures include Literal procedure, Interpretative procedure, Paraphrase procedure, Omission procedure, Modulation procedure, Addition procedure, Neutralization procedure and Transliteration procedure, respectively. For the evaluating the translation in overview through the meaning found that there are only one person in all 20 people able to translate the all the text accurately. Other people left have the inaccurate at least 1 sentence, at most 7 sentences in 11 sentences.
