Most perplexing among these are instances where a yeast species is isolated only rarely, as a very minor component of the community, but in remote localities. Candida ( iter. nom. Metschnikowia) hawaiiana ( Lachance et al., 2003 ) and Metschnikowia orientalis ( Lachance et al., 2006 ) are such examples, as is the species to be described here as Saccharomycopsis fodiens sp. nov.
