Octopus(tako)
Octopus live just 18 months, dying after they spawn, and have two peak periods for flavor, both based around spawning. Summer octopus feed ravenously and grow dramatically in preparation for summer spawning, their flavor peaking in June-July when they are sufficiently fattened, while autumn octopus are caught in November-December, when they consume more food as the water temperature drops and dive deeper ahead of spawning, to avoid the effects of these cooler temperatures. At their tastiest, octopus legs are swollen with gelatinous
