The fact that the NC are chemically bound to PLA not only affects
the amorphous component, which is reflected by changes in Tg, but
also strongly affects re-crystallization. Thermograms in Fig. 4b
show that the re-crystallization of PLABz and PLABz-NC blend
occurs in a wide temperature range, while PLASTARCH recrystallization
occurs in a narrower temperature range, suggesting
that the NC chemically attached to PLABz acts as a nucleating
agent for PLABz during the crystallization.
