methods From 39 plant species that herbal healers recommended , 28 of them are native to Iran (one endemic) (Table1). There maining 11 plant species are cultivated species or imported from other countries, especially India and China.The most recommended plants fordiabeteswere Trigonellafoenum-graecam (28 Attars),Securigerasecuridaca (22 Attars), Vacciniumarctostaphylos (18 Attars). ThemostabundantfamilieswereFabaceae(4species),Lamiaceae (4species) ,Apiaceae (4species)andAsteraceae(3 species). Plant parts used were mainly flowers(12species),leaves(12species) seeds (11species),and fruits(10species). Totally 9 methods of preparation were mention edin the present study.The most commonpreparation methods that the herbal healers used were:decoction(31)and powder(15).Inpreparation
methods some drugs were recommended to be used with milk,honey,yoghurt,salad,tea,olive oil and butter.
