As one might expect, the LPI is tied to connectivity indicators
such as the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development’s
liner shipping connectivity index—one of only a
few connectivity indicators. The World Bank has proposed an Air
Connectivity Index,a full version of which will be made available
soon. These data confirm that there is a strong correlation between connectivity and economic outcomes such as participation
in global value chains, as measured by trade in manufactured
components (see figure).
