body brownish red (versus body blackish in B. persephone
and B. miniopinna); lack of prominent stripes on
body sides (versus present in B. tussyae); parallel vertical
bars on opercle present (versus absent in B. rutilans). It
can be distinguished from the sympatric B. foerschi by
smaller size (40 mm SL), anal-fin
base scaled only on posterior third (versus anal-fin base
completely scaled), and head length less than 29% of SL
(versus >30% of SL in B. foerschi).
