The SSF was carried out as described by Dowe and McMillian
(2008). Six grams of corncobs powder, 1.0 g yeast extract and 2.0
g peptone were placed in each 250 ml Erlenmeyer flask, 50 mM
citrate buffer, pH 5.0 added to form 80 ml suspensions and fitted
