The sample of participants who provided us with complete
data consisted of 235 individuals involved with vaccine ordering.
Of those involved with vaccine ordering, 147 (62.6%) participants
worked in settings that saw mostly pediatric patients and 88
(37.4%) participants worked in settings that saw adults. Descriptive
statistics of the participants by patient type are shown in
Table 1. For both groups, there was a higher proportion of female
participants. Participants who worked in a setting that saw mostly
children were 54.8% female while those who worked in a setting
that saw adults were 68.2% female. Most of the participants were
between the ages of 31 and 50, 66% and 70.5%, respectively. More
than 70% of participants in both groups held post-graduate degrees.
In terms of practice type approximately 60% of participants in eachgroup were involved with group practices. The participants were
located in 43 states of the United States, and most participants from
both settings, approximately 25% each, resided in the northeast.
The top two reportedly most purchased vaccines for both groups
were Sanofi–Pasteur’s multi-dose vials and its pre-filled syringes.
However, participants in a setting that saw children reportedly purchased
approximately twice the amount of prefilled syringes than
participants in a setting that saw adult patients.
