1. POPBL is a hybrid approach combining Project Base and Problem Base Learning.
2. Project Based focuses on producing:
Evidence of learning (a product) and team work
3. Problem Base focuses on solving the problem, team work, and a product of learning
4. The Problem Scenario is the starting point for the students learning.
5. Students in team decide what learning issues (what they need to learning, attain, practice, or research) to solve the problem scenario
6. Students of POPBL work in teams, they learn to work within the strengths, weaknesses, and challenges of the team and time.
7. Students of POPBL are self-directed learners, they are life-long learners. Finally, they are active learners. Their role as a passive learner has changed, students are responsible for their learning
8. The instructor’s role changes as consultant, and not the primary information giver.
9. POPBL is a learning process of discovery, a process of work distribution, a process of speaking; finally POPBL is a way of learning.
10. Finally, I’d like to leave you with what I have found to be the main advantage of POPBL. As we prepare to enter a career in English, we must all constantly update our knowledge and skills, it is vital that we acquire the ability to do this from POPBL.
This means we avoid being left by the wayside when we don’t have someone throwing facts at us. I suppose that a more eloquent way of putting it is that Project Oriented Problem Based Learning prepares you for Problem Based Life.
