2.5. Histological analysis
Samples from distal intestine of fish were fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin for 24 h and transferred to 70% ethanol. A graded series
of ethanol dehydration was done (70%, 80%, 85%, 90%, 95%, 100%) with
a tissue processor (Leica TP 1020, Buffalo Grove, IL, USA), then tissues
were cleared (CitriSolv, Fisherbrand, Waltham, MA, USA) and embedded in paraffin wax. Using a rotary microtome (American Optical,
Southbridge, MA, USA) transverse sections of approximately 7 μm
were prepared and mounted onto slides, and stained with hematoxylin
and eosin (H & E)
