Although efforts are being made to improve LA production from
lignocellulosic biomass, an efficient and effective method to
increase LA yield and titer by using agro stovers as substrates still
needs to be developed. In this study, LA production by the newly
isolated B. coagulans LA204 strain through SSF of agro stovers
was studied, and optimized LA yield, titer, and productivity as high
as 0.68 g/g stover, 97.59 g/L, and 1.63 g/L/h, respectively, were
obtained. This represents a practical process for LA production
from lignocellulosic agro biomass.
