A gay couple have been the target of homophobic internet trolls after a picture of them went viral.
An image of Noparuj Kaendi and Thorsten Mid holding hands on Bangkok’s SkyTrain during an LGBT festival in the city went viral after it was shared on the Facebook page of news website BV Patrol over the weekend (April 18).

Despite the caption reading: “Support them. Don’t be bitter,” the picture attracted a wealth of scathing, homophobic comments. One user suggested that “Foreigners are fond of pets,” while another added: “I now believe that potions work.”
After seeing the criticism on Facebook, Kaendi took to Instagram to thank those who had left positive comments on the picture, adding that he and his boyfriend “weren’t surprised” that some people didn’t approve of their relationship.
