There are many types of instruments used to measure the rate of now of fluids The three we discuss in this section are the turbine flowmeter, the magnetic flowmeter, and the hot-wire anemometer.
Turbine flowmeters are probably the most commonly liquid and gas flow rates. (Fig. 14.17). They provide a direct method for measuring both aircraft applications. The They are also particularly useful for remote monitoring and which the fluid flows turbine flowmeter consists of a rotor mounted in a pipe through The flowing liquid causes the rotor to turn. The greater the rate of flow, the faster is the speed of rotation. The vanes of the rotor are metal, and a magnetic pickup mounted on the wall of the senses the passing of each vane as an electrical pulse. The frequency of the pulses is proportional to the rate at which the rotor is spinning and hence from rate of flow of the liquid. Turbine flowmeters are available for liquid flow rates less than 0.01 gallon per minute(gpm) to over 35.000 gpm
