Outside the large accounting firms,
there is a lack of local persons with the capacity to produce IFRS-compliant financial statements,
which may be required for group reporting purposes or for lenders.
Companies are required only to submit annual financial statements to the MOF Taxation Department.
These financial statements are prepared in accordance with the Lao Accounting System.
Local accountants are familiar with this System.
These annual financial statements are not necessarily subject to audit.
Members of the international network dominate the market for the provision of IFRS- and ISA-compliant accounting and auditing services,
which is driven by group reporting and lender requirements
